Smino Moves the Crowd with a Sold Out Show at Lyric Theater Alongside Monte Booker and Julian Bell (June 7)

St. Louis artist Smino joined producer Monte Booker last night for a sold out show at Lyric Theater along with featured vocalist and musician Julian Bell (from Smino’s Monte Booker-produced track “Poppa”), who played guitar (June 7). Fresh off the release of his first music video from his blkjuptr EP, the rapper welcomed a live band with backup vocalists, wearing Vans and moving poetically onstage. Repping his Zero Fatigue collective in-between songs, a highlight of the evening was when Smino asked for the lights to be turned off completely and for the crowd to use any light source they could to illuminate the room as he performed the politically charged and deeply passionate fifth track from blkjuptr, “Oxygen,” with the room silent as he grasped the mic to recite the chorus verse, I need oxygen, oxygen, oxygen; Oxygen, oxygen, right now I’m choking out…

Smino’s blkjuptr EP released on June 3 and is available on iTunes, Apple Music, and Spotify.
