NIPS AND PIECES: The Nameless Brand Presents "SUSPEND REVISITED" Photo Show at Mauro's Cafe at Fred Segal

Photographer Christy J. Kim captured SUSPEND Magazine's first ever photography art show presented by Justin Bobby of The Nameless Brand last Wednesday (Aug 20) at Mauro's Cafe at Fred Segal. I featured five photos, each representative of the five existing issues of SUSPEND Magazine thus far, as well as featured photography by staff photographers Kayla Reefer and Jonathan Tate. Kayla Reefer showcased two on-tour photography pieces from her recent experience documenting and touring with Talib Kweli (which you can read about as per her "Reefer on the Road" series). Jonathan Tate featured portraits of artists (such as Jeanleon, KT The Terrible, and Gentleman Alphonse) as well as Fairfax notables we now consider our extended family (ie. Mita Mae and Tony Scargall).

Friends and new faces were invited to partake in dinner (my choice: the classic angel hair spaghetti) with a full menu being served throughout the evening. The art show also doubled as a birthday celebration for French pasty chef and manager, Basile "Baz" Bouhadida. Baz made a special chocolate mousse dessert cake later in the evening which he served to guests as they watched a special performance by Blaison Maven towards the end of the night.

All the photographs displayed were put on display for this particular night only. As with all fleeting memories, we extend our many thanks to the familiar faces, friends, and new SUSPEND readers for sharing an intimate dinner evening with us on Melrose.
