OFFICIAL Photos from the ISSUE 06 Release with Miss Lawn of HLZBLZ (Feb 11) – Ph. by Angella Choe

Staff photographer Angella Choe captured the excitement surrounding SUSPEND Magazine’s sixth issue release with covergirl Miss Lawn of HLZBLZ arriving with her team and business partner, husband Bam Barcena. The HLZLBZ team celebrates the 10-year anniversary of the pioneering streetwear label, and the brand’s supporters came out in throngs to celebrate Miss Lawn’s magazine cover with SUSPEND.

The Globe Theater venue, with a capacity of 1600 people, was a full house by the peak of the night with guest performer Jose Guapo amping up the crowd with his live performance, including his hit track, “Run It Up”. (Jonathan Tate has on-stage photographs of Jose Guapo and the full line-up of DJs here.) Center stage, HLZBLZ dye-cuts adorned the platform – with other iconic HLZBLZ imagery also placed on each of the Globe Theater’s mezzanine balconies.

SUSPEND correspondent Sam Rea interviewed guests as they entered the release party including FoodBeast co-founders Elie Ayrouth and Geoffrey Kutnick. She also interviewed photographer Chad J. Wilson, Drewbyrd of 40’s and Shorties, and Jose Guapo himself following his performance.

Inside the main lobby, copies of ISSUE 06 were displayed and sold as well as official ISSUE 06 commemorative merchandise – a five-panel cap designed by ISSUE 06 artist Louis De Guzman and a long-sleeve tee with all featured artists listed from the 148-page issue.

In the history of SUSPEND’s release parties, this one at the Globe Theater surely hits a new milestone for us with an insurmountable amount of guests that came out to celebrate with myself and the rest of the staff.
