EDITOR'S NOTE: After recently re-locating to Downtown less than two months ago, I wanted to bring together all of my L.A. artist-friends into one location on Sunday, October 19th, to have them meet and discuss with one another what new magic they could create. This idea was put into fruition by my fellow UCLA '09 Bruin and alumni, Jarell Perry, and Well Fed owner, Celeste Perez - both Downtown locals and regulars. Over a few bottles of sake and sushi, we came up with doing a collaborative rooftop mixer to follow up the success of Jarell and Celeste's first #ILIKEYOU event held over a month ago in the same loft location. Jarell gathered Jordan Calhoun, better known as thatkidcalhoun. With a comfy group of about 80 attendees, we all took in the 360-degree view of Downtown and its surrounding peaks and buildings. I asked Ashlay Cashlay of ISSUE 04 to attend with REVOLT Curator, Tae Merida, soon-to-be featured in ISSUE 05 wearing LNKD. Members of Sweatshop LA, most recognizably Bo Vu of Green Eggs and Yams, came in attendance with photographer, Chris Cash, who wore one of Bo's limited edition bucket hats throughout the evening. DJ Spintelect and his Everybody's Rival partner, KB iMean, arrived not long after with CharliZERO and Famous of Black Collar.
Thank you to everyone who drove out from near and far (SUSPEND Staff Photographer Akeem Brandon, that's you!) to enjoy Sunday evening's sunset with us. All photos from the event were stunningly captured by Kayla Reefer exclusively for © SUSPENDMAG.com.
