“When you got a name like Chuck Inglish, you gotta have your own sandwich…”
SUSPEND Magazine celebrated the second night of the two-part event for the release of ISSUE 04: Commerce & Trade at Daily Dose in the Arts District (Sept 7). The special two-night event took place to commemorate the first print edition of the magazine, made in a limited quantity of only 350 copies. SUSPEND partnered up with the charming and picturesque Daily Dose café not only to celebrate the release of ISSUE 04, but also to promote their brand new sandwich “The Inglish Muffin”. The name and array of ingredients were conjured up by the café’s owner, Sarkis Vartanian, the head-chef Dianne Crame, and recording artist Chuck Inglish.
The innovative and delectable sandwich was not only named after Chuck, but was crafted to incorporate all of his favorite items, including: a ground chuck patty seasoned with jalapeños and herbs with a gooey wagon wheel cheese center, baked potato chips and chipotle tomato sauce in a jalapeño biscuit.
The evening consisted of an array of hand-crafted products by featured craftsmen interviewed in the issue - restructured pants by Hung on You, designer Stephen Kenn, architectural salvage boutique Silver Fox Salvage LA, Falling Whistles, to name a few - as well as artwork displayed by each of ISSUE 04’s contributors. Behind-the-scenes video projected across the brick wall compiled from shoots throughout the issue's creation. An assortment of rhythms permeated throughout the brick walls courtesy of Spiv and DJ Aimy Price, along with the delicious Inglish Muffins, and an eclectic crowd of first-time patrons, friends, and family.
