Last Wednesday (July 29th) Converse held numerous launch parties throughout the U.S. to commemorate the release of the redesigned Chuck Taylor All Star II. The main focus around the new design is centered on the Lunarlon sockliner. The simple addition of the sockliner provides much needed cushioning and support. Throughout the event I overheard nearly everyone commenting on how comfortable the Chuck IIs were and how the soft plush material relieved some stress off their feet. Other new perks are the padded non slip tongue for 360 degree comfort around the ankle and instep, super soft micro-suede lining, and premium canvas. The Chuck IIs come in traditional high and low top versions in Black, all White, Blue, and Red.
A party was sure to be had at the Santa Monica flagship store as Converse provided free drinks, appetizers, music via DJ Eko to set the mood and also a photobooth to capture the fun. An additional highlight of the evening was a full set performance by Sweet Bump It. Their sound ricochet off the walls! High notes were effortlessly hit, dance moves were accompanied by sick guitar riffs, and with each song they played a large crowd of spectators began to overtake the store. To sum it up, it was a very successful evening by everyone involved and I will definitely be buying myself a pair or two of the new Chuck II.
