As large as Los Angeles may be, it never surprises me when at an event, a coincidence occurs. Such was the case while watching Santigold perform live at the Hennessy VS x Futura Launch back in August 2012. While applauding her after one of her songs, I realized standing next to me in his embellished black blazer and shades was celebrity stylist, Ugo Mozie. Perhaps it was the thrill of seeing Santigold perform - along with Diplo DJing - that got me to tap Ugo on the shoulder. After exchanging pleasantries, I told him about SUSPEND before he then introduced me to his friend, fellow stylist and business partner, Daver Campbell.

A few weeks later, we opted to meet in front of Flight Club LA on Fairfax Ave. where I photographed the duo just a little after sunset. Ugo was hard to miss in his black blazer, deep v-neck, perfectly flimsy-fitted black pants, red socks, and Gold Brick Sprayground backpack. Daver was a vision in leather pants and complementing black long-sleeve shirt, choosing a yellow-printed bandana to wrap around his waist.

DIANE: How did you both get started in Fashion? UGO: Growing up I knew I couldn't have a regular job. I didn't want to be a doctor or a firefighter. I always used to draw and sew patterns even from an early age - and that is when I started realizing I could do the same thing with clothing. When I was young I used to turn my pants into shorts and cut sleeves off my shirts - which I still do to this day - and that marked my start with Fashion. I started making my own clothes, and bleaching them, all while I was still living in Texas (where it's definitely more conservative). I couldn't really take too many risks. I then moved to New York right out of high school when I was 17 and it was a breath of fresh air. I was able to do what I wanted to do and not be judged. That's where I figured out what area of Fashion I wanted to go into, and from there - I started styling.

D: What was it like when you first moved to New York? U: I moved to New York officially in December 2008. It was in the midst of finding myself and finding what I wanted to do. I was also going to college at the same time. I was in limbo, basically, with myself and my career, so it was good to be in that area and have people like Daver and my fiends who were encouraging and doing their own thing too.

D: How would you describe your everyday style versus how you style your clientele? DAVER: Ugo is more polished. I'm very New York: grungy and gritty. Behind-the-scenes, I'm more t-shirt, jeans, sneakers. I love sneakers. And I love comfort so I'm always sneakers, sneakers, sneakers! If I have to be in front of a camera, then I still go for a t-shirt with a blazer and some dark denim - and still sneakers.

D: So something still accessible - D: Yes, and something more polished.
